Kwale’s Ukunda Water Project Nears Completion

The CECM for Water Services County Government of Kwale Hon. Hemedi Mwabudzo, KWAWASCO team led by the MD Mr. Eric Parmet, together with the Governor’s Media Team today visited the Ukunda Water Supply Project under Implementation by Kwale Water & Sewerage Co Ltd and funded by the World Bank and National Government, through the County Government of Kwale.

The Project is divided into two lots;
1. Drilling of (9) boreholes in Kilole that will transmit 10Million liters of water daily into 4.2 million liters capacity Mabokoni Tank.
2. The laying of a 14 Kms pipeline from kilole through msangatifu and muhaka to Mabokoni tank.
3. A 68Kms pipeline has been laid from mabokoni to diani/ ukunda, Tiwi, kombani to check point.

The Mabokoni Tank is 90% complete while the transmission pipeline from the boreholes to the tank is expected to be complete in 6 months.

The project has a capacity of producing 10 million liters of water daily, serving 200,000 people, with an expected 6,000 metered connections. The project upon completion is expected to be a game changer in curbing current water supply challenges in the targeted areas.
